The economic climate has certainly taken a toll on business travel. This is especially true for international meetings and events. During the past year both corporations and organizations have scaled back not only the frequency of business travel but also have made tough decisions regarding where they go.

However as companies and associations begin to get back on track and look forward towards economic recovery they are beginning to open up their travel budgets once again and looking to re-engage their global workforce and get them back in front of customers and at key industry events.

Organizations realize that conducting an event in a foreign country can be extremely beneficial and rewarding but it also comes with its own set of challenges aside from the traditional meeting planner pains.

Traveler safety is top priority. Meeting planners must be aware of the current political landscapes before embarking on any international strategy. There are obviously some countries that offer safer environments and are friendlier to guests than others.

There are also other issues that organizers need to know before confirming a future location such as local market sustainability, intellectual property, language and cultural barriers, as well as normal travel process of securing visas, currency exchange rates and local customs.

Join Successful Meetings and MeetingNews for this interactive Web Seminar, sponsored by the Singapore Exhibition and Convention Bureau (SECB) and hear from industry experts regarding best practices in planning for an international meeting. Attend this online-only event and learn the necessary steps every meeting planner needs to ensure guest safety and the success of their event.
