Unlike sex-drenched sitcoms, grizzly forensic crime solving dramas, and the glut of back-stabbing reality competitions, the heart of prime-time -- family friendly programming -- does not get the attention it deserves. Yet, 7th Heaven recently ended an historical 11-season run, cable networks like Disney Channel and Hallmark Channel are growing by leaps and bounds, and family driven historical stanzas like The Adventures of Ozzie & Harriet, Bonanza, The Waltons and Little House on the Prairie remain some of the longest running series in the history of television. Even so, networks remain gun-shy about promoting the genre despite the relevance to advertisers.
Today’s viewers have access to a variety of information and entertainment options, along with countless devices to help them manage media consumption for themselves and their families, when they want. But with networks and cable broadcasters still pushing the boundaries on what is appropriate, how do you know which shows are right for your family and where can you find them? And when will the broadcast networks recognize the validity of the family friendly label.
Mediaweek’s Mr. TV, Marc Berman, Creator/Editor of The Programming Insider, is ready to take you through the evolution of family programming, with a look at where it started and where it is going. Berman will also have a one on one conversation with 7th Heaven star Stephen Collins and will be available to answer any questions during an open Q&A session on the subject at the end of the broadcast.
Join Mediaweek, Marc Berman for this live, interactive Web Seminar and find out:
